Identifying Signs from Spirits, Guides or Loved Ones

What if you looked for signs from Spirits and Guides and weren’t sure that you ever saw any? I am always asked in our, 'Build Your Intuition' course, chat sessions, channelling sessions and on Facebook how you can tell if you have received a sign from Spirits, including loved ones who have passed and Guides - or in fact if they ever send any. Here is the technique I use to recognise signs from my Guides for you to try. Read More

I absolutely believe in and work with signs and I have a process for identifying these landmarks from my Guides. Over the many years that I have been conscious of these signs I have learned that using a basic process is the most flexible and productive, as this becomes the most innate, familiar and obvious to you over time. However, as with all relationships over time, you tend to develop your own communication shorthand as I have done with my Guides, so I will explain my process for you to the best of my ability.

I find that Guides and Spirits come to me in two formats with their landmarks and signs: the physical format and the sensory format. By the physical format I mean that Guides or Spirits literally present signs such as emails from particular websites or presenting the same TV ad several times in a row when I switch on the set.
When I’m working with signs in the physical format I adopt a three step process:

  1. I pose the question or query to my Guides. I ask them to meet a specific timeframe in which I would like the information to be sent to me or made obvious to me in order that it comes into effect – for example, a few hours if it’s a fairly urgent matter or a week if it’s something that is more strategic. The reason I ask this is because Guides have no concept of time – so we need to set that for them.
  2. I then ask my Guides to give me two distinct signs to work with, within this timeframe.
  3. Once I think that I have been presented with a sign I then ask for another form of a sign within the 12 hours from the first sign.

As an example I will share with you the signs I saw to confirm my decision to contact Bmag three years ago, with whom I had my “Ask Julianna” column until December last year when I resigned to concentrate on our chat line and television plans. At the time, I was writing for a different publication in Brisbane and I never received Bmag in my letterbox as I lived in a unit, but I would always read it at the local coffee shop. On the day that I thought I would like to write for them I came home and found the Bmag in my letterbox for the first time - my first sign.
That night I was out with friends saying how much I liked
Bmag and one of these friends said that they knew the people who published it and that they would call to introduce me. Even though I didn't feel comfortable using that connection, it was definitely another sign.

The next time the magazine was published I was reading it and I received a call from the publication I was writing for saying that they wanted me to keep working for them but that I wouldn't be able to contribute to any other media such as radio in Brisbane (which I love just as much as print), so it was another sign.

Two days later I got a call from my friend who knew the publishers asking if I had called
Bmag yet, so, not needing any more signs I picked up the phone, met the editor and we then worked together successfully for three years.

Then I add the sensory process. In my sensory step I pay attention to the following indicators:

  1. When I pose the question does the question feel right and am I posing the question with integrity of Spirit?
  2. When I feel a sign has presented I pay attention to how this registers in my body. Is it comfortable, does it make me nervous, do I get goose pimples coming up, does it tingle in my mind comfortably, am I feeling cold but comfortable, does this question or sign make me feel queasy? You see there are many signs that your body gives that can intuitively let you know if it is comfortable with this sign or landmark.
  3. Then after I have asked the confirmation to be completed within the 12 hour mark I measure the signs and ask myself how I am feeling. I explore whether or not following this sign feels right even if it does not initially make sense. Once I asses this I action it.

From a sensory side, when I called Bmag to inquire about speaking to the editor my ears rang with a soft, ringing echo and this is always a positive and comfortable feeling for me, like a happy ringing bell. Once I spoke to the editor about starting and she suggested kicking off with a feature story I had goose bumps and felt very comfortable and knew that my Guides were positive about this.

Tips For Your Process

As I mentioned at the start, I have developed my system of signs and communication with my Guides over many years so please don’t place pressure on yourself to understand and see every sign that you can. If you want to see signs from your Guides or from Spirits, then I suggest you do the following on a regular basis to improve your communication with them:

  1. Using a normal volume speaking voice, ask your Guides or Spirits with whom you want to communicate to present you with a sign and explain why you want this sign to be presented;
  2. Outline a timeframe in which you’d like to receive the sign;
  3. If you intuitively feel that you have received a sign then you need to assess your sensory reaction to it to gauge your comfort level and assist your decision-making process to action the reason you asked for the sign;
  4. If you’re not sure whether you received a sign, then feel free to ask them (again out loud) to present you with another sign within 12 hours for confirmation.

Now I know this sounds basic, but it works. The reason it works is that you are opening your mind and your orbits to a higher level of mechanics that you may not necessarily read with clarity, but they will still take you to where you need to go.

I admit that these days I also simplify the process by calling in my Guides while doing my 'Build Your Intuition' Egyptian Pyramid meditation. However this is how I started reading signs as a 16 year old – and it has never let me down! Give it a try and let me know how you go on Facebook.

A sign from my Father In Law
written by Joanne Robertson , January 28, 2012
When we are watching out for signs, it is always exciting when we see or experience one. It is my mother in laws birthday in a couple of days and I said to my husband "Be open to all signs from your Dad, as it's only 48hours until your mums 70th Birthday". This is the time when the ones we love who have passed over want to make their presence known to extend their love to the living; especially around important dates like birthdays, weddings, christmas. At my father in laws grave site he has a white rose tree and he's favourite saying was "stop & smell the roses" so a white rose is definately a sign from him. I headed off to the shops to buy my mother in law a birthday present and whilst searching for a birthday card; i asked my father in law from spirit 'will you help me choose a card that will include a message from you too'. I was searching for around 5 mins picking up a few but waiting for my sign. It came when I picked up a card that had a picture of two white roses on it - perfect. I wanted to see if my husband had realised the 'sign' as well, so I held up both cards and said which one - he looked at the card with two white roses and said "that one, of course!" How special this moment was. It was like the three of us where standing in the newsagency, just for a split second. My father in law chose the card for his beloved wife that day with the help of his son and daughter in law and I bet you my mother in law will understand the message too. Simple little gestures and signs that have such a deep meaning between souls. When ever I think of my father in law (whom I love deeply and had created a special bond with) I see him handing a bunch of flowers over to his wife with so much love and admiration - this is my symbol for "Happy Birthday". Happy 70th Birthday Glor's love from your husband Jim xx
