Why ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ is my ‘Channel, Ask, Find’

The world wide phenomenon of the book and now the movie ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ took me by surprise, mainly because when I read it I wasn’t sure why Elizabeth’s Gilbert’s year-long journey to Italy, India and Bali resonated with so many women. But after listening to people discuss it and yes – watching Oprah speaking to those who had changed their lives as a result of it – I realised that it resonated because Elizabeth set out to find out her life purpose, happiness and “what life’s all about” – and she did, for that phase of her life.

After working with Spirit all my life and providing professional psychic readings for 20 years, I can absolutely say that the one consistent thing everyone wants to know from me and my Guides is, their life purpose. My concern with this is the thinking that accompanies this question.

People think that if they have this one high purpose clarified, defined and labelled; that it will save them from the rougher parts of life’s journey and that it will justify everything in their life to date. What trying to define your life purpose does not do however, is allow you to enjoy the integrity of your day-to-day steps, which is what living is all about.

I have a beautiful card featuring a quote by Eileen Caddy that says “expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now.” I cannot emphasise enough that in my experience, life is not about defining and engineering your grand scheme and then sitting with your fingers and legs crossed hoping for the best outcome. It’s about questioning, clarifying and exploring as you go.

Channel, Ask, Find

My Guides constantly tell me that we have many life purposes and that everyone’s journey is about the rudimentary steps we take on the way. Based on these thoughts and the steps that I would like to clarify for people in their lives, I invite you to attend a special channelling session which I’ve called “Channel, Ask, Find” in which you can ask my Highest Guide, Elizabeth, questions about your life that you would like direction, guidance and clarity on.

I want you to use my Guide to help deliver information from your Guides on where you are at this point and where you feel you need to go. Tap into a higher power or order in the universal structure to allow you to see beyond where you’re sitting at the moment. If the channelling can give you your compass or a street direction, that’s good. I ask you to stop thinking about ‘life purpose’ and start thinking about little steps.

I provide information from my Guides via my readings all the time, but the channelling session will provide you with information straight from Elizabeth about what’s most relevant to you in your life, right now. It may be a particular question that you have, confirmation that you are seeking, a fear or weakness that you want to address or even a feeling you need to follow, but if there is something that is affecting you right now – no matter how small – it’s relevant because its affecting your life.

We will hold the session from 10.30am – 12.30pm on Saturday 13 November and it will include morning tea as well as the opportunity for you to ask Elizabeth two questions about anything you like. Tickets are $66 each and numbers will be limited so that everyone present gets the most from their experience - click here to book.

The interesting thing about ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ is that Elizabeth Gilbert ended up fulfilling her quest in steps, without having any idea where her personal and spiritual journey would actually take her. To my mind it was the result of her being open to these experiences and sharing her changes with people, who then translated that into their lives on a smaller scale, which tapped into a common need.

From one Elizabeth to another, remember to enjoy the steps and your many life purposes will define themselves.

I've always been a "grand plan" kind of girl. I like to have a solid feeling for my goals in the next 5-20 years and be working towards them. Which is why I find it so hard dealing with the enormous disaster in my life which has meant that I have no plans beyond the next month at most.
But this makes sense - I need to look for teh happiness in everyday and not keep waiting to be "happy" again.
Thankyou.

Julianna, I fully agree with you that the journey is small steps taken and sometimes in our quest to find happiness it may be right there in front of us, a smile from a child, a stranger helping in a dire situation or just watching the ocean roll in. I was only telling my husband the other day, live in the now, enjoy it - tomorrow will come and so will your plans but enjoy today while it's here.
