Introvert or Extrovert? Make It Work For You

One of the most interesting lines of questions I get is on why some of us don’t like being in the public or even just standing up for why we feel the way we do when faced with difficult situations. 90% of the people who ask me this are introvert in an extrovert situation and struggle with this.

So let’s explore what an introvert and extrovert are so you will better understand yourself – and make it work for you! As an introvert in an extrovert form of work I have been accused many times of being cold or stuck-up in public. It has not occurred to anyone that I may be highly uncomfortable!

So what is the difference? Briefly, introverts expend energy just being with other people and need solitude to re-charge; they spend a lot of time thinking and little time talking; and are slow with verbal responses. Extroverts need the energy of others to thrive. Here I'm going to give some real life examples of these differences in relation to energy, interaction, emotion and thinking.

Find Grace Not Grievance

This experience happended to me and it is important to share it due to the stress that many of us face no matter how we live. There is always space for grace rather than grievance in our lives, but it was my Highest Guide Elizabeth who reminded me of that during this incident.

I copped an insult from a lady in a store yesterday when under my breath I mumbled to myself in frustration at how rude this person was being to the poor 20+ year old trying to serve her in the supermarket when she INSISTED on paying for all (over 20 items) individually to save money due to an ‘A Current Affair’ segment.

Now I mumbled under my breath –‘Allah’ - to keep my concept of ‘practice what you preach when you walk through life’ so as not to strangle her.

Her response:”Did you just swear in Muslim to me?”
Me: "No I did not.”
Her: “It sounded like it. I think you did. What did you say?”

You are Your Attitude – 9 Steps to Success

Regardless of the number of degrees you have, the truth is that much of your success is determined by your attitude. Education is worthwhile but a good attitude is priceless.
