80% - that’s the percentage of questions I’m being asked at the moment either through online readings or in our channelling sessions about the possibility of moving. It’s no coincidence that we’re coming up to the end of the year with all of its psychological closure and the promise of possibility in the New Year.
It is a time when we look back at the year and assess how it went. And after providing guidance for over 20 years I can assure you that when our life is not going the way we need it to, or when we feel that everything in our immediate environment is hurting us or holding us back, many of us think that leaving this environment will provide us with the freedom we seek. But will it? You need to ask yourself - are you moving or running away?
Moving is making an educated decision to change environments to improve your position, whatever that position may be. It’s strategic, like making moves on a chess board, moving up in an organization and moving ahead in traffic.
Running away or even running to somewhere or someone is taking flight because you feel you have no other sustainable option - when you feel that you cannot cope or make the changes in your life without a change you feel you are controlling. If you don’t have a plan but just don’t want to stay where you are, you are deserting not only your environment, but also your chance to deal with the triggers that cause you to want to run/escape/flee each time.
The significant concern I have about running away is that when you run, you still take your issues with you because your actions are based purely on emotion. When you feel the need to take flight from work, from your family, from your home or from anything - ask yourself this: how will this change of location enhance my life and capacity to move forward? You see, sometimes staying still and working through a situation is actually the best way to move forward.
When you run away out of fear and frustration the house, suburb, city or even country that surrounds you will change, but if you do not address your fear and frustration, you will take your internal view with you all the time, every time. In the future your internal view becomes the greatest obstacle to overcome, not the things you thought were the issue in your last location. Is that really the way to start 2012?
When you are thinking of moving, map out the environment you need to position yourself in so that you are actually relocating and not running away. Here’s how:
- Make a decision that the environment you are choosing to move away from no longer holds regrets for you. Understand that you may feel sad or perhaps upset at times with what has happened with some situations in your life, but that essentially you feel that moving on gives you more time to focus on and plan your future, rather than dwelling on your past and what has made you regret.
- Understand that this move will not miraculously improve what you are seeking to find, achieve or be, but will rather add an environment into the mix of your life that should be more supportive of, and positive for, what you are seeking.
- Know that with this move you have all the internal resources to become what you will be - no matter where you relocate to.
When you intrinsically know why you feel compelled to relocate, what you are seeking in this action, and what it is you are prepared to leave behind to grow and develop, then your move means that you are no longer running away from, but are propelling toward, your potential and future.
