I was asked a few great questions about how to identify yourself as being psychic, intuitive or sensitive in our last Guidance and Intuition Course class on Monday night. They’re questions I am often asked, so I thought I’d share my perspectives on these questions with you.
Q: How do I know if I’m psychic?
A: Psychic to me is knowing that you have a clear, deliberate and controlled communication style with your Guides and other spirits so that you are able to access and deliver any of their information. I don’t think it is possible for everyone to be psychic because not everyone is born with that communication grid in them.
Telltale signs:
- When you have a knowing followed up with very strong supporting information with spirit;
- When all your senses are able to communicate with spirit and calibrate the information you are getting;
- When the information given to you is harnessed for a complete external environment – not only relevant to you.
I do strongly advocate that competent psychics are able to control the level of information that they get. If you feel that you are psychic, but don’t have control over it, then find a way to discipline this or it may be a liability rather than one of your great strengths.
Q: How do you describe being intuitive?
A: Intuitive is when you have a heightened sense and communication style within yourself and with your Guides. It is when you are able to sense and know when something works for you and possibly others.
The signs of being intuitive are:
- Sound, capable and strong gut instinct;
- Being able to know the most suitable decisions and actions for your betterment even if it seems illogical.
I do believe that everyone has the ability to identify, use and increase their intuition, but like psychic ability, it takes discipline, practice and use in order to make it tangible and beneficial for you.
Q: What does it mean if I’m sensitive?
A: Sensitive is having a heightened awareness of one’s environment and stimuli. People who are sensitive can feel what’s going on around them because they sit in sympathy with people based on them working on an energetic level. Therefore they energetically absorb and respond to emotions. Being sensitive is also the way you internalise and assess what your environment is, and then you consciously and unconsciously react to that.
Q: Why do psychics call themselves mediums, clairvoyants, intuitives, sensorys and what are the differences?
A: To me there are no differences. They are simply labels they give themselves to denote the type of communication method they have with spirit. It’s all psychic ability – which is of, relating to, affecting, or influenced by the human mind or psyche.
Q: What do I do if I think I’m psychic, intuitive or sensitive but not sure?
A: Find a great teacher or mentor who is living a strong, competent, enriched life, who practitions out of a healthy, clean, professional domain. Attend a class or event with them or contact them via email about their teaching and understand that if discussions on what you should not be doing or ways that you need to protect yourself arise, recognise that this is dogma, not teaching, and keep seeking for a teacher until you are comfortable to explore your psychic, intuitive or sensitive ability.
If you recognise that you are psychic, intuitive or sensitive and it works for you and adds to your life, then continue to do what you are doing. It is when you get exhausted from feeling that it controls you, or you constantly absorb the emotions and energy of others, or it feels like a burden, that you should consider learning to understand and control these tools so that they truly become a great benefit in your life. Oh, and if you’ve never wondered if you’re psychic, intuitive or sensitive or never read, chatted about or visited anything or anyone psychic, intuitive or sensitive, then it’s a safe bet that you’re not and probably not reading this article!
